Film Morales - Alex Chandler - IB2

One position that can be taken is that the film industry has caused poor moralsto become prevelant in society. While the opposing position would be that film is conveying what already exists in society and adding a dramatic story or scene to it. Another position that could be taken is that film allows for people already caught in a poor moral habbit to justify their actions and continue onward. While the opposing view is that film does not try to promote bad morals, and people need to think for themselves.

All of these positions do form conjecture, and they all have some basis of justification, possibly examples to help back them up. Simply but, yes conjecture is there. This means that all sides have a good basis of argument, and can have a worthy debate to see who is right. I personally have my own opinion, and am interested in further researching the opposing views.

  1. I really like the two sides that you have shown here. I think they are both very good points and helps the readers understand both sides of the film industry and not just the side you are promoting. I think everyone should have their own opinions and personally views, but i think you have done a good job at giving us more information so our opinions can change.

  2. I think your focus is decent. Trying to find different perspectives could be limiting but i think you did a good job at covering a few of those perspectives. I think you should try and separate or categorize films though because based on all the types, what they depict has to do with their specific genre. Documentaries for example deal with showing the world how it is, where as action movies with drugs, violence and sex are just trying to show viewers another "lifestyle." I think you might need to find a way to add some statistical information into your paper to make it more reliable; try researching different organizations that form positions on film production and morality if possible. (Im sure you can find something, it seems there are organizations for everything! haha)
