CHILDHOOD OBESITY AND HOW IT RELATES TO SOCIOECONOMIC FACTORS:
When looking at possible sides and positions to take, it was important for me to try and angle out what each stakeholder may have interest and concern in. Doctors for example will probably be in the position of treatment and lowering the child's obesity, where as families from the beginning may have a position of prevention. Hospitals would be the same position as doctors; they may be able to supply information on prevention of obesity, but typically they deal with "in the moment" patients. for them they will be looking at ways to slow or decrease the child's obesity rather than prevent it. Schools as well as programs such as Nickelodeon will come from a point of prevention and encouragement at a healthy life style; they are slowing the growth of obesity and they are also trying to promote healthy lifestyles. The CDC will be looking for causes of obesity and they will be in a position focused on prevention. the stakeholder that can be though to decide on what position they will take, is food companies. During my research I may have to break this group up and look at how poor diet companies(those who sell "junk food") are taking a claim in this issue and how healthier food companies are trying to promote healthier lifestyles through their foods. Either way these are difficult because they are still both coming from a position of business and corporate standings.
In relation to researching each position, I think I will look at which are looking at childhood obesity from a position of prevention, which are looking at it from a position of treatment, and which are looking at it from a research and solution position.

You seem really organized and have narrowed your topic well. You definitely want some statistics in your essay. You can't forget to include those statistics of obese children due to genetics which I would think is a majority of obese children, but you're the expert. You did a really good job of recognizing all of your stakeholders. How is childhood obesity (a social issue) affecting the economy? It seems to me that it would be bad for society, but good for the economy. Maybe also you could educate your readers on the causes of childhood obesity and enlighten them on some provetion tactics. Good job!
